The Kyrgyz studio 4Tale Production, a resident of the High Technology Park of the Kyrgyz Republic, won a prize at the international Rising Tide Challenge. Their project Steel Ark entered the top three demo games on Steam.
The game surpassed dozens of projects from around the world and became a significant milestone for Kyrgyzstan’s gaming industry.
What Steel Ark is about
Steel Ark is a first-person action game with elements of survival, crafting, and automation. Players explore an open world, gather resources, and turn a locomotive into a mobile base. The project supports both single-player and co-op modes for up to four players. For the first time in a game of this level, a Kyrgyz language localization was included.
Gaming as a business
The gaming industry has long been one of the most profitable in the world. Developing major titles requires hundreds of millions of dollars but also generates record-breaking revenues. For instance, Star Citizen has already raised over 700 million dollars, while GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 each earned more than one billion.
Against this backdrop, the success of the Kyrgyz studio shows that regional game developers can reach a global level — turning their projects into both cultural and economic achievements.
