At the Digital Bridge forum in Astana, the Samruk-Kazyna fund presented SKAI (Samruk-Kazyna Artificial Intelligence). This is the first independent digital board member with voting rights in Central Asia. The development was presented to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev by the Chairman of the Fund Nurlan Zhakuпov.
What is SKAI
SKAI was created using the national supercomputer Al Farabium and the Kazakh large language model Alem LLM. The system processes internal and external regulatory documents, the archive of board decisions since 2008, and other materials accumulated since the fund’s establishment. As a result, the board is able to make more balanced and well-argued decisions on key management issues.
Security and infrastructure
Special attention is paid to data protection. SKAI operates within the closed environment of the Al Farabium supercomputer, so information does not leave the country. Computing resources ensure stability and speed of analysis. Access to the system is role-based, all actions are logged, and model training is carried out exclusively on the fund’s document corpus.
A new stage in corporate governance
The Chairman of the Fund, Nurlan Zhakuпov, called the project a “quantum leap.” According to him, technology and people are now making decisions together, and digitalization goes beyond processes and becomes part of the management philosophy. SKAI is scheduled to participate in a board of directors meeting in the near future.
Future strategy
At Samruk-Kazyna, they emphasize that the implementation of SKAI is not a one-time experiment, but an element of the fund’s strategy for digitalization and management transformation. In the future, the system is expected to be used not only at the board level, but also in other managerial and analytical processes of the holding.
