Kazakhstan has ranked among the world's top 30 countries in artificial intelligence adoption. The announcement followed a meeting between an OpenAI delegation and Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the field of AI, launching joint educational initiatives, introducing ChatGPT Edu, and exploring future areas of partnership. OpenAI representatives also shared insights into ChatGPT usage across Kazakhstan.

According to OpenAI, Kazakhstan significantly outperforms other Central Asian countries in per capita use of the consumer version of ChatGPT. Kyrgyzstan ranks 52nd in the global ranking, while Uzbekistan is in 58th place.

Zhaslan Madiyev said that the country's high level of AI adoption reflects Kazakhstan's readiness to embrace emerging technologies in everyday life.

"People are already actively integrating artificial intelligence into their daily lives for learning, work, information search, and content creation. This level of adoption creates a strong foundation for integrating AI into education, business, and public administration," he said.

Valerie Focke, Head of International Education at OpenAI, noted that Kazakhstan is already among the countries actively adopting artificial intelligence. She emphasized that the country's high level of ChatGPT usage, strong engagement among young people, and balanced distribution of users across genders provide a solid foundation for expanding educational initiatives.

How people in Kazakhstan use ChatGPT

According to OpenAI's analytics, users in Kazakhstan most frequently turn to ChatGPT for practical advice, writing and editing text, finding information, and completing work-related tasks.

More than 42% of conversations are information requests or questions. Around 32% are focused on completing specific tasks, while another 26% relate to self-expression and content creation.

Young people remain the main drivers of AI adoption. Users aged 18 to 24 account for 36.2% of all messages, while those aged 25 to 34 generate 35.8%. Together, people between the ages of 18 and 34 are responsible for 72% of all ChatGPT interactions.

Younger users are more likely to use AI for working with text and multimedia content, while users aged 25 to 34 rely on it more often for technical assistance and solving practical work-related tasks.
