The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has published a thematic review on the implementation of recommendations for regulating the crypto and digital asset market (CDA Recommendations).
The study covered 20 jurisdictions, including AIFC Astana, alongside the United Kingdom, Singapore, France, Switzerland, and Japan.
International recognition
According to the report, AIFC Astana demonstrated a high level of compliance with IOSCO’s international standards. The Center was particularly recognized for its strong corporate governance, client asset protection, and information disclosure practices.
AIFC was listed among 15 jurisdictions that have already implemented measures to manage conflicts of interest for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs). It also ranked among 12 jurisdictions that have fully adopted requirements for client asset protection and compensation mechanisms in case of loss.
Oversight and transparency
The AIFC regulator enforces strict standards of audit and oversight.
It requires mandatory internal and external audits, reporting to independent auditors approved by the regulator, and strict adherence to transparency procedures.
In addition, AIFC Astana is one of the few jurisdictions actively participating in international information exchange on crypto assets through IOSCO’s MMoU and EMMoU mechanisms, together with the United Kingdom, France, Gibraltar, and Hong Kong.
Kazakhstan as a regional hub for digital regulation
The inclusion of AIFC Astana in the IOSCO report highlights Kazakhstan’s growing role as a regional hub for financial innovation and responsible regulation of digital assets.
Such recognition strengthens the country’s position in the global fintech regulatory ecosystem and confirms its steady progress toward a transparent and secure digital financial market.
