In Kazakhstan, planned tax inspections will be abolished

Deputy Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov announced major changes in tax control. Starting in 2026, the state will abandon planned inspections and move to a risk-based model.

What changes

Previously, lists of companies subject to inspection were published twice a year — for the first and second half of the year. This practice will no longer continue.

Yerzhan Birzhanov explained:

«Starting next year, all planned inspections are cancelled. As you know, we used to publish twice a year the lists of taxpayers who would be inspected in the first and second half of the year. There will be no such lists anymore, and accordingly, no planned inspections. Only unscheduled inspections will take place.»

Procedure optimization

The changes affect not only planning, but also the inspection process itself. The powers of inspectors have been revised, and several stages have been transferred to a digital format.

According to the Deputy Minister of Finance:

«The inspection procedures themselves have also changed now. Suspension of a tax inspection is allowed only twice. And many stages of the inspection process have been moved to electronic format.»

What remains offline

Digitalization does not affect the initial notification. The first delivery of documents about the start of an inspection will still be carried out in person. This is the only stage that remains offline.
