In 2026, there will be no extra day off at the end of August. August 30, which was previously observed as a public holiday, has been removed from the list of non-working days.
This was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Justice.
What has changed
The change concerns Constitution Day. It used to be celebrated on August 30 to mark the adoption of the 1995 Constitution. After the new Constitution was adopted in March 2026, the previous date lost its relevance and, along with it, its status as a public holiday.
How it affects the calendar
In 2026, August 30 falls on a Sunday. Previously, a day off would be moved to Monday, but this rule no longer applies:
• Sunday, August 30 — regular day off
• Monday, August 31 — working day
No additional day off is provided.
New holiday date
Constitution Day is now set for March 15, the date when the updated Constitution was adopted.
The new public holiday will effectively take place starting in 2027, when March 15 will first be observed as a non-working day.
Minister of Labor Askarbek Yertayev noted that in 2026, August 30 will remain a regular calendar day with no compensation or additional days off.
