Construction has begun in Astana on Kazakhstan’s first complex for developing and manufacturing humanoid robots. Investment in the first phase of the project will total around $200 million.
The QAZBOT Robotics & AI complex is being developed by Kazakhstan-based QAZBOT Technologies. Chinese robotics manufacturer AgiBot is the project’s strategic technology partner.
The complex will combine robot development and production
The facility will cover the full development cycle for robotics solutions, from research and software development to localised production, testing, and deployment.
The complex will include research and engineering centres, manufacturing facilities, and service infrastructure. Specialists will develop software and AI models and adapt robotic systems for use in Kazakhstan.
The project also includes a data factory for training AI models using information collected while the robots are in operation.
The complex will train engineers
One of the project’s focus areas will be training specialists in robotics and artificial intelligence. Engineers will be able to participate in research, software development, testing, and maintenance of robotic systems.
The companies also plan to conduct joint research and develop their own humanoid robotics solutions.
Robots will be introduced across various industries
The complex’s developments are expected to be used in manufacturing, logistics, finance, healthcare, and education. Other potential applications include social and customer services, as well as urban infrastructure.
QAZBOT Technologies and AgiBot are already discussing industry-specific pilot projects with companies in Kazakhstan.
Construction of the complex began on 18 August 2026. The timeline for completing the first phase, planned production volumes, and number of jobs have not yet been disclosed.
